The Woods Harbour/Shag Harbour Fire Department is one of 12 fire departments located in Shelburne County and are 1 of 3 fire departments that make up the Barrington Municipal Fire & Emergency Services. The Woods Harbour Shag Harbour Volunteer Fire Department is located in the western end of the municipality of Barrington. They were incorporated in 2012 when the Shag Harbour-Bear Point fire dept and the Woods Harbour fire dept amalgamated. They now cover from Charlesville to Bear Point and all areas in between. They currently have approximately 45 members, most of whom are level 1 trained and some who are level 2 trained. They also have over 20 members with MFR training combined. They respond to an average of 120 – 150 emergency calls per year.
They have the following pieces of apparatuses 2016 Spartan engine/tanker, 2013 Spartan heavy rescue, 1995 Volvo engine, 2000 utility cube van and a 2006 passenger van.
Recently they were involved in fighting the Barrington Lake wildfire and would like to extend a big Thank You to all other fire depts and people in their communities who supported the firefighting effort.
